Members for international humanitarian law panel nominated

DOHA: The Minister of Justice H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim issued a decision (No 377 of 2012) nominating members of the recently established National Committee for International Humanitarian Law.

Sultan bin Abdullah Al Suwaidi, undersecretary at the ministry has been nominated as chairman of the committee. The national panel was set up earlier this year through a Cabinet decision (No 27 of 2012).

The committee has members representing different ministries, Government departments and other organizations. The Armed Forces are represented by Brigadier General Hamad Nasser Al Badr (Air Force) while Brigadier General Hamad Ahmed Al Hassan Al Mohannadi has been nominated as  representative of the Ministry of Interior.

Other nominated members are: Sheikh Khalid bin Jassim Al Thani  (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Najat Mahdi Al Khalaf (Ministry of Justice), Mohammed Hassan Al Obaidli (Ministry of Labour), Dhabit Matar Al Dosari (Supreme Education Council), Dr Faleh Mohammed Hussain Ali  (Supreme Council of Health), Talal Abdullah Ahmed Al Emadi (Qatar University), Mariam Ibrahim Al Malki (Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking), Dr Fauzi Siddiqi (Qatar Red Crescent) and Khalid Mohammed Al Khamees Al Obaidli (Ministry of Justice).

Applauding the government’s decision to establish the committee, Sultan bin  Abdullah said that it is a timely move with an increasing number of people falling victims to wars and conflicts all over the world.
